The finding of Myrtaceidites eucalyptoides within the anthers of a fossil Eucalyptus flower is the first recorded organic connection between organs for the genus and for the family Myrtaceae. The Eucalyptus fossils upon which this discovery is based are around 52 million years old, putting them in the early Eocene Epoch (56- 33.9 MYA).
